Paris' New Mayor, Smog, and Skyping Happy Birthday

Here in Boston, it has been sunny but still very cold. We may be more sensitive to news from Paris now with all of you over there, but there were two very interesting items in today's Boston Globe. One was about how Paris is set to elect its first female mayor (with two to choose from!) and second, how the smog in Paris has been so bad lately that half the cars (those with even number plates -- how odd! :)  were banned from entering Paris yesterday. So, MHSers, how has the air been walking around Paris? Amanda told us that it just seemed cloudy. . . is that smog?

Also, we were thrilled today to get a Skype video call from Amanda (thank you, Sophie!) so she and Sophie could sing Happy Birthday to Amanda's brother Nate (15) -- in French, of course! While, Nate was typically underwhelmed, some day he will appreciate how special it was to get such a cool birthday tribute sung to you all the way from France. Amanda's mom and I were amazed at the quality of the Skype video call and were very pleased to see and hear Amanda looking so good and so excited with all her new French adventures.

We are drinking up all the details of your trip, so please keep them coming with your great pictures as well. Adieu et bon chance!          -- from Amanda's Dad
