Monday 3/17 summary

OK, I should be in bed, but a quick Happy St. Patty's Day to everyone, and a shout-out to Shannon for helping Mme M's son Romain with his holiday vocab sheet :-)
Our day took us to Trocadero, where many were delightfully surprised (especially Gabby!) by the sudden sight of the Eiffel Tower across from the plaza. We'll be across the river at the tower itself on Wednesday. From Trocadero, we headed to Notre Dame for a walk around the cathedral, some playground fun, and a close-up view of the lovers' locks that have taken over several Parisian bridges in recent years. Next, there was a drive around Les Invalides, a military veterans' hospital / museum / tomb of Napoleon. Then it was up the Champs-Elysées by coach to the Arc de Triomphe, from where we descended the avenue on foot all the way to the expansive Place de la Concorde and the Tuileries Garden beyond. All had a well-deserved break and picnic lunch (including a number of waffle desserts), some additional playground fun, then a visit to the Orangerie museum. Our return to  st-Witz was early, so all had a chance to decompress from lots of walking and standing, and hopefully everyone was asleep by the time I started writing this! ;-)
Tomorrow it's classes with our host students all day, with a bit of French class with me for some students. A bientot!

  3. I'm tired just reading this! Students at Melrose worked on MCAS today in school. I'm looking forward to hearing the students' impressions of school in France! Stay safe.
